Face What Isn't Working
“Keep praying for us, for we are convinced that we have a good clear conscience, that we want to walk uprightly and live a noble life, acting honorably and in complete honesty in all things” (Hebrews 13:18 AMP).
In a fabricated world where people practice phoniness, it is important as Christians that we do not yield to the spirit of hypocrisy. Hypocrisy plays itself in many shapes and forms. It's not just pretending to be something that you're not as for as serving God is concerned. However, it's also refusing to admit those areas in your life that's just not working. If you are going to become everything God desires you to be, you have to get out of denial and face what's not working in your life.
Do you get offended easily? Do you ignore your living conditions? Do you make excuses for your bad marriage? Are you in denial about your excess weight, ill health, bad temper, or your disorganized working environment? Are you putting off separating from the individual who keeps hindering your spiritual growth? These questions are important to answer if you're going to fulfill your destiny. Destiny-minded people face these circumstances squarely and take appropriate steps of action.
Why do people avoid facing what's not working? When you face what's not working, it means that you're going to have to get out of your comfort zone. It's going to be an uncomfortable process. It may require more self-discipline, courage, confrontation, energy, or just a made up mind. Just because you ignore something, doesn't mean it cease to exist. Facing what's not working in your life is uncomfortable, painful, and even humiliating, but it's the only guarantee towards a brighter future.
Destiny people, on the other hand, are more concerned about the big picture than the temporary inconvenience. My word for you today is to be more committed to finding out why things are going the way they are going instead of defending your position of failure, ignorance, and excuses. Be willing to look at every angle of your life with honesty. Admit every item that needs to change, and deal with it rather than covering up and denying it. When you do, you'll find God's blessing, favor, and power to overcome in all things.
