Reignite Your Passion For Life
“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven” (Matthew 5:16).
I remember when I was a little boy my mother would use a gas stove to cook her gourmet meals. Many times I would just stand in the corner to watch how she put some of her favorite dishes together. Because I was so determined to learn how to cook at an early age, I set my mind to pay attention to even the smallest details. From time to time the stove would experience a slight problem. Many older gas appliances have a small, continuously burning gas flame called the "pilot light", which ignites the main burner. Although the pilot light was designed to burn constantly, the gas burners would not always ignite for whatever reason. Nonetheless, when a burner was out, my mother would just simply light a match and reignite the fire.
I wonder if you are in serious need of being reignited. Have you lost your passion for life? For God? For your dreams? If so, it's time to reignite your fire. Don't stay in a cold rut another day because of what you're going through. Although the "Pilot Light" of our souls (Jesus) is constantly burning bright, our burners may not always catch hold. There may be something stopping the connection. Just like the pilot light in a stove, whose purpose is to serve as an ignition flame for the gas burner, so it is for the light of Christ in us. God's light is a flame that should be burning brighter and brighter in us and through us. When that flame is not burning properly, it's nothing wrong with the light; there's a problem with the burner. And when that little flame fails to operate properly through that stove, nothing will be produced for the table.
If you feel like your passion has died, then it's time for you to reignite. In other words, ask God for a fresh anointing to flow in your life. Take back your dream, your vision, and your desire for the abundant life. Last night, as I was thinking on this topic, I immediately went to writing. "What were you writing?" you might ask. My goals. "Well, haven't you written your goals already?" you might ask again. Yes! But because I wanted a fresh start, I rewrote my goals for the remainder of the year and years ahead. What was I doing? I was reigniting my passion for life. I was getting reacquainted with my goals and dreams. Something was stirring within me like never before. You should never depend on what you did days and months ago to sustain you for what you need today. Develop a fresh expectation for what you want to accomplish in life. Not only did rewriting my goals reignite my passion, but it also helped me to regain focus on my priorities. I challenge you to do the same, and watch what takes place in your spirit today.
