Why Are You Here?
“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them”
(Romans 8:28 NLT).
I truly believe that each of us is born with a life purpose. It is a sense of something that we were designed to do in order to live a fulfilled life. As I often mention, that purpose is only discovered through unbroken relationship and fellowship with God. He deposited that seed of purpose in you before the foundations of the world. He alone is able to cause you to realize what that specific purpose involves. With a purpose, life has meaning. You feel significant, like you make a difference. Without a purpose in life, you will get easily sidetracked on life's journey, drawn away towards every distraction and mediocre event.
When you're not established in your divine purpose, it's also easy to drift and wander. But when you begin to discover your life's purpose, it seems like everything begins to fall into place. In order to get to this level of fulfillment, you must be serious about where you are, or decide on where you would rather be. Every decision matters. Your time is your most important asset. The people in your life play a huge role in who you are and what you accomplish. Your purpose affects every part of your life. Everything you do should be done on purpose. To be 'on purpose' means that you're doing what you were created to do with love, passion, enthusiasm, and excellence.
When you're on purpose, nothing you do or say is by accident. When you made that phone call, it was on purpose. When you wrote that letter, it was on purpose. When you attended that conference, meeting, or school it was on purpose. I've never been anywhere by accident; I've always been places by assignment. Purpose is the 'why' to your life. Why are you in that particular relationship? Why are you working for that particular company? Why do you attend that particular church? Why do you do what you do? When you don't understand the purpose for a thing, you'll never truly appreciate the rewards associated with it. When you truly are 'on purpose', the people, resources, provisions, and opportunities will naturally gravitate toward you. Therefore, you'll always be in a position to serve and be a blessing to others, because of the streams of living water that flow through your discovery of living with purpose.
